The article “The 5 Rules of Blog Etiquette” list and describes 5 rules to go by when blogging or commenting.
(1) “If you quote someone, you need to link.” Always ask permission and link to the original post when using someone’s quote. This can be used in your advantage which can earn you back links
(2) “Don’t repost without permission.” Is taking someone else’s complete post and posting it as your own without permission. It is wrong and can get your blog shut down by your host.
(3) “Take the time to respond to comments.” Readers take time out to read your post and comment so the least that you can do is do the same. It shows readers that you respect and appreciate their commenting.
(4) “Be respectful to those who disagree with you.” We all know that not everyone is going to agree with your opinion on posts but you don’t have to come back and be rude. Whether they agree or disagree in there comment on your post be appreciative and thankful for the comment and move on.
(5) “Don’t leave spammy comments on the other blogs.” A lot of bloggers like to comment on a lot of post to drive traffic to their own blog. Make sure you read the post carefully and leave a well thought out comment.
